Huawei P20 and Mate 9 getting a new software update with September Security patch

Huawei is rolling out new updates for the flagship Huawei P20 and Mate 9 handsets. This new update comes with a new security patch and device improvements.

The latest software update brings September 2018 security patch, and several other bug fixes and improvements have been made. It’s only this week that Google started rolling out the same update to the Pixels and it was picked up by Essential Phone, too.

Still, the fact that Huawei and Google are rolling out the same update on the same week is a big deal and while the update is confirmed for model EML-L09 of the P20 and MHA-L09 of the Mate 9, other variants of these two phones should also receive the same update.

The P20 users are getting software version 8.1.0.133(C106CUSTC106D001), and the Mate 9 users are receiving version 8.0.0.368(C605).

These are OTA updates, which means it’ll take several days before the download notification shows up on your phone, so be patient.
